Somehow, it’s become autumn, which means September is at an end and we’re three-quarters of the way through the year. For myself, September has been a hectic month of work and planning (more on that soon), but I’ve managed to fit a fair bit of blogging in around the edges. So let’s take a walk down short-term memory lane.

Book Haul
I’ve implemented some very strict cost-cutting measures on myself for the rest of the year, which means my book haul is suitably reduced. This has been helped by the fact that I’m at the end of several long-running series, so there’s little to tempt me with the promise of just one more book. The books I have bought are as follows:
- Man Plus, by Frederik Pohl
- Creed: Ashes of Cadia, by Jude Reid
- The World of Null-A, by A. E. van Vogt
- The Rose in Darkness, by Danie Ware
- -REDACTED-
That last one might need some explanation. I’m keeping my cards close to my chest, but this one will probably crop up next month. So keep an eye out for a surprise that will almost certainly underwhelm all but one (if not all) of you.
Reviews
I absolutely tore through my TBR this month, which isn’t as surprising when you realise how short most of the books on it were. Were it not for the fact that I’m spending October out of the country, I’d be certain of clearing out my TBR entirely over the next few weeks. The books I have read in the past few weeks, however, are neatly listed below:
- The Mammoth Book of Mindblowing SF, edited by Mike Ashley
- Phase Space, by Stephen Baxter
- Tangents, by Greg Bear
- The King of the Spoil, by Jonathan D Beer
- Ascension, by Nicholas Binge
- Implacable, by Jack Campbell
- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
- Those Once Forgotten, by N.C. Scrimgeour
- A Call to Vengeance, by David Weber, Timothy Zahn, and Thomas Pope
- A Call to Insurrection, by David Weber, Timothy Zahn, and Thomas Pope
- Longshot, by Rob Young
- Various Deep Space Nine Novels
Articles
I only found time for one article this month, in which I outlined some of my possibly controversial book-related opinions. At present, I remain un-cancelled for my iconoclastic beliefs. I do not expect this to change, as they are fundamentally harmless.
Updates
Depending on how today goes, this might end up being my best ever month for views. That would be a nice capstone before I neglect this blog in favour of spending time with my significant other for all of October.
The only other update is, as I alluded to earlier, that I’ve reached the end of several reading projects. if you know of a good science fiction book series that you think I’d like, now is probably the best time to suggest it to me.
